Luca Gibello (Biella, 1970), presso la Facoltà di Architettura del Politecnico di Torino si laurea nel 1996 e consegue nel 2001 il dottorato di ricerca in Storia dell’architettura e dell’urbanistica. Presso il Politecnico ha tenuto corsi di Storia dell’architettura contemporanea e di Storia della critica e della letteratura architettonica, mentre dal 2013 è titolare di un modulo didattico alla Facoltà di Ingegneria edile – Architettura dell’Università di Trento. Dal 2004 è caporedattore de “Il Giornale dell’Architettura”, e dal 2015 direttore.

Abstract

Having surpassed the problem of quantity, it is necessary to now address the problem of widespread quality where we have ensured, that all land surface areas be defined by an architecture project, or rather in a holistic, integrated and multidisciplinary approach. The objective then, is know how to intervene in the scope of transformation, revitalization, reconversion and reuse in urban design. Architecture must know the ‘catalogs’ that provide best practice for design processes and products, yet know to avoid the populist tendencies of certain participatory design processes and know how to take into account the requests of users. Doing so, architecture can exercise the ability to reason critically, which is the most valuable skill designer should have.
