In this “dromocractic” era, dominated by the absolute values of speed and short duration of each phenomenon, architecture is called to the paradoxical challenge of precariousness, which is actually transient and fleeting. In a delicate combinational process between freedom and construction, lightness and gravity, the tool for contemporary urban design, can only be that which governs the near future of our cities. The process of exchange between architecture and design has to deal primarily with the multidisciplinary character that has been influencing creative professions which have increasingly more in common with one another. The figure of the designer has taken on characters, skills and roles that were unthinkable until recently times. Failing to understand this transformation will condemn the designer as irrelevant.Downloads
