Abstract

The tasks and goals of architecture are the same, today as in the past. What has changed are the conditions by which we reach them. The broadest phenomenon of the city has always been the presence and the simultaneity of public and private life. We live not only in private dwellings and buildings, but also in public streets and squares. Basically the house is an object. Each construction element, each architectural detail, is an object, which has to be designed. However, it is crucial in architecture that each architectural element is part of the construction in its entirety. The notion of the architectural profession must be reached through its Anschauung and reality is definitely the best school for our profession.
