(Rome, 1973) She obtained BD in History of Architecture (1999) at the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Roma Tre and PhD in Architecture and Building practice (2003) at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Rome “Tor Vergata”. Since 2012 she’s Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Engineering of Alma Mater Studiorum –Bononia University.
She has taught History of Architecture at several Italian Universities and she has lectured in Italian universities and international research centres. She has been working in a large number of research teams and scientific programs linked to history of architecture, to preservation and exploitation of the architectonical heritage, partecipating to international congresses and exhibition and publishing her studies.

Abstract

Pier Luigi Nervi (1891-1979) was undoubtedly one of the leading figures of twentieth century architecture: a builder and tireless experimenter with materials, building techniques and forms, a teacher and a theoric of construction. The fact he was able to join together the two characters of the Engineer and the Architect was one of the key factors that made his innovative constructions possible. He built this professional skill of Engineer-Architect during his studies at the Application School for Engineers of Bologna, thanks to his masters’ teachings and to the experiences of professional practice, both oriented towards an interdisciplinary approach and by a bold will of experimentation.
