Pier Luigi Nervi (1891-1979) was undoubtedly one of the leading figures of twentieth century architecture: a builder and tireless experimenter with materials, building techniques and forms, a teacher and a theoric of construction. The fact he was able to join together the two characters of the Engineer and the Architect was one of the key factors that made his innovative constructions possible. He built this professional skill of Engineer-Architect during his studies at the Application School for Engineers of Bologna, thanks to his masters’ teachings and to the experiences of professional practice, both oriented towards an interdisciplinary approach and by a bold will of experimentation.Downloads
