Born in Bologna in 1986, she studies at the UniBO and UPV of Valencia, graduating with honour in Building and Architectural Engineering in Bologna with a thesis in Restoration and Preservation of buildings conduced in Paris. In January 2012 she starts a PhD in Architecture within a programme cotutored with the Universities of Bologna and Paris-Est.
Riccardo Gulli University of Bologna

Professor of Technical Architecture at the Faculty of Engineering of Bologna. His primary interests are historical building techniques, rehabilitation and retrofitting of built heritage. He is the Scientific Referee of LabTeco Study Centre of the University of Bologna and, since 2010, of the Restoration Unit of CIRI Building and Construction Research Centre.
Maurizio Brocato Université Paris-Est

Professor of Science and Technology for Architecture at the École Nationale Supérieure d’Architecture Paris-Malaquais and of Mechanics of Structures at the École des Ponts ParisTech, member of the Laboratoire GSA - Géometrie Structure et Architecture where he conducts researches in the field of structural analysis and optimization.

Abstract

This paper reports the results achieved by the research directed by Prof. Gulli, with the collaboration of Profs. Brocato, Porrino and Sakarovitch, within a cooperative relationship between the Department of Architecture of Alma Mater Studiorum in Bologna and Laboratoire GSA at the École Nationale Supérieure d'Architecture Paris-Malaquais.
The project investigates the architectural and constructive history of the Church of Saint-Sulpice in Paris, with the aim of developing a research methodology of the pre-modern constructive techniques applicable to the restoration and preservation of buildings.
The research conducted on the construction in stone and steel is aimed both at the theoretical analysis and project as well as to the practical realization and structural verification, according to an approach which combines science and practice.
