Beroaldo ERP: A Paradigm for the Transformation of Social Housing

In the Bologna context, marked by a growing housing demand and a limited availability of affordable dwellings, the ERP intervention in via Beroaldo represents a concrete response to the crisis. The presence of a partially unused public housing stock, alongside increasing demand, highlights the need for integrated regeneration strategies.
This project involved the replacement of an obsolete building complex through the development of a new residential system organized around an open courtyard. This configuration enhances the relationship between public and private spaces, fostering social interaction and integration. Design strategies include high energy-efficiency solutions, advanced building systems, and sustainable resource management approaches, improving the overall performance of the building.
The project also stands out for its attention to the social dimension, proposing an inclusive and accessible housing model. Shared spaces and integrated services strengthen the sense of community, while the housing layout responds to the needs of diverse households. The intervention demonstrates how the regeneration of public housing can act as a driver for a sustainable housing system, combining architectural quality with social cohesion.
