Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The Editorial Team of in_bo is extremely concerned with the issue of intellectual property rights: the journal cannot accept submissions which draw partially or entirely on unquoted or wrongly quoted sources, both in their original form or in translation. Plagiarism detection softwares are in use, and the whole Editorial Team works actively to detect any acts of plagiarism. Please ensure that what you are submitting is a fully original work, and that it coherently and properly quotes all its sources.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines. Where available, DOIs or URLs for the references have been provided. All illustrations and figures are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The author is aware of the policies of the journal, particularly the reviewing process and the Code of Conduct.
  • The author is committed, under his own responsibility, to obtain the release of the copyrighted images and to provide, in case it becomes necessary, a written declaration of release to the Editor of the journal. The author relieves the journal from any liability in the event of a dispute.

Author Guidelines

in_bo invites authors to submit their contributions in two different ways: thematic call for papers and an open year-round call.

  • thematic call for papers aim at publishing monographic issues. These calls are preceded by a call for abstracts, that requires authors to send a short abstract (max. 1500 characters, spaces included), essential bibliography and a short CV, to in_bo@unibo.it. Once the abstract is selected by the Scientific Committee and the Editorial Board, authors are invited to complete their full paper according with the journal’s guidelines and to submit it with all the necessary metadata through the website. More information on the call for papers can be found here.

  • Through an open call, in_bo invites authors to submit full papers on topics that characterize the journal’s lines of research. The open call is open year-round. Papers are first evaluated by the editorial board and then reviewed according to a double-blind peer review process. Accepted papers will be published in the first available issue of in_bo, no later than six months after their acceptance. in_bo focuses on the past and present forms of architecture and the city. The editorial board is interested in receiving proposals on the following research topics: didactics of architecture, design theory, the relationship between the sacred and the built space, and the history and transformations of architecture, the city and the landscape, without chronological or geographical limits.

Typologies of expected contributions

in_bo collects publication proposals through two different ways: call for thematic papers and an open call, that is continuous throughout the year. In both cases, the contributions should be part of one of the following categories:

This typology includes research articles respectively on the specific topic of the current call for papers or on those proposed in response to the open call.

Review

With this typology authors can present reviews of books, exhibitions, conferences or any other type of event linked to in_bo research topics.

Interviews

In this typology it is possible to report dialogues with relevant personalities in the world of architecture and the study of the city.

Visual

This type includes graphic works such as illustrations, drawings, photographs and other projects. In this case, it is also required to send a short explanatory abstract, maximum 1000 characters including spaces, which justifies the relevance to one of the promoted themes.
